How Internet Marketing Can Increase Your Sales
Page 2

As you can see we have a pretty tall order to fill with any sales and marketing system. Most sales and marketing efforts fail in one or more of these areas. Many individuals will say any system that can do all of these things will cost a fortune! I would respond this isn’t true. What if I said I had such a system that built on many of your existing resources and could meet every one of these goals? Interested?

This system is a combination of technology solutions organized around your existing resources. It is made up of 3 basic components and once it is put in place will literally change the way you do your sales and marketing. Here are the main components:

The Prospecting System

Web site: Most web sites for businesses today are nothing more then glorified bill boards or electronic brochures. They often don’t show up in the search engines and when they do visitors take one look at the site, maybe they look at a couple of things then with one click of the mouse they are gone never to return, why? Did you ask them take action? Did you make it easy for them to determine what you wanted them to do? Did you give them the proper motivation to take action? Did you give them a reason to come back? Most sites fail in one or more of these goals. A web site needs to be set up like a direct marketing campaign. You need to get a visitor to take action! That is your number one goal. You want to them to read the site and pre-educate themselves on your offering and then take action. Here are a few goals your site could be trying to accomplish:

  • Sign up for a class through your online registration system.

  • Complete an admissions application and submit it for consideration.

  • Complete an online form that says they are interested in more information.

  • Call your admissions department to set up an appointment.

The key goal with all of these events is that it represents concrete action. You have prospects that are both interested and probably qualified who take action. Your web site is your hardest working sales rep. It works 24 hours a day seven days a week. It never gets tired, quits, or fails to do a good job…maybe. If your site is not feeding you interested and qualified prospects every day then it is not doing a good job. The site should be designed, organized, and capable of doing this job. Your site should have an effective message and guide the prospect through a pre-determined set of steps until they take action.
